Birds of Prey #10 by Duane Swierczynski

I have to give Swierczynski props for doing the best job at integrating the random crossover into the storyline. In a way that doesn’t make me totally upset.
I’m glad that the Birds are standing behind Ivy even when Batman wants to let her die. (Well, that’s not very Batman-like, buddy.) Though Ev needs to think twice about her transport options.
I did appreciate that the Birds are out of Gotham City. They seem to have a bit more symmetry. I’m not sure if that has to do with them being completely away from the city.
This Leyden guy is pretty stereotypical. Like I’d like to get away from harassing assholes without boundaries in my reading. Especially when Ev should’ve punched him or something. I mean, I know that Ev couldn’t have as he was flying the plane, but still… I expect more.
I approve of Black Canary flying with her cry.
Mostly, I’m not a fan of Foreman’s art. His body-shapes are weird.

This art is horrible. Awful. Everyone looks manformed and just plain ugly. Mostly, this book’s getting lower marks due to poor art quality.
As far as the story, I’m not really believing that the Birds would follow Ivy, even if she had them under the threat of death and then the further destruction of the planet. Especially because them dying and releasing the virus to kill all humans would help Ivy in her mission to the give the Earth back to the plants.
Obviously, I’m pretty sure Ivy isn’t going to die at the end of this arc. They’re not going to kill off a villain that people recognize. (Maybe if she hadn’t been in that horrible movie.)
I’m also curious as to how this entire plot will fit into the Batgirl comics. (Not that I’m advocating that Batgirl can only be in one comic at a time. On the contrary, many women in many comics all at the same time just like Batman.)

Richards is such a better artists than Foreman and Green. I’m so glad to have someone else penciling this. Even if he does draw the women too thin and makes them all have the same shape. (Except Ivy and her perfectly pear-shaped ass cheeks.)
I figured that the Birds would rebel against Ivy far sooner than this. I mean, it’s not like she can track all of them all the time. They are all superheroes in their own right.
I wish that we would’ve gotten a more nuanced look into Ivy’s world. Like besides her dying, there needs to be more showing of her motivations. I want to know more about the green place, the science, the humans who are on her side. I want to know more about the companies that she’s targeting.
Wow, Swierczynski lampshaded that ending that there was going to be an origins issue next up.
